Below The Beltway

I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

9/11 and 7/7

The death toll may not be on the same scale, but I think the impact of today’s attack on London (or should I say attack on civilization ?) will have an impact on Great Britain similar to what happened here after the September 11th attack. As someone more eloquent than I has pointed out, the Brits are not the Spaniards. The nation of Churchill, Thatcher, and Blair is unlikely to turn tail and run. If anything, given the way the UK treated the IRA during its reign of terror, they’ll just get tougher.

For us, the lesson is clear: the war on terror is not over. If they can strike London at rush hour, then they can, given time and planning, do the same thing in New York, Washington, Chicago, or Los Angeles. Unless we keep up the fight, that is. (We also need to do something about the immigration policies in this country, but that is a topic for another day). The consequences of doing nothing are more days like today…….or worse.
