The second season of Battlestar Galactica premiers on the Sci-Fi Channel tonight. I was a fan of the original series when it was on in the 70’s, but this show shares little in common with its somewhat-campy predecessor beyond the same name and the fact that most of the major characters have the same name. The writing is light years ahead of what ABC put on the air 25 years ago, and is arguably some of the best writing on television today. This is really saying something considering the fact that most sci-fi television writing is, on the whole, pretty bad. Witness Star Trek:Voyager and the recently cancelled Enterprise.
