Big Time Football

Perhaps it has alot to do with the fact that my undergraduate school, Rutgers University, has not been an athletic powerhouse in a long time, but I wasn’t really a fan of college football until very recently. The change came around 2003 when I met Kellie and went to my first Ohio State game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, OH. The atmosphere was electric and far more exciting than even the professional games I’d been to. That year, we saw OSU beat Big Ten rival Iowa and, last year, we saw what has got to be one of the best football games I’ve ever seen. OSU was playing Marshall and won the game on a last minute field goal. The crowd, needless to say, went wild.

We aren’t going to make it to a game this year — its a long story involving an apparent address screw-up in the Alumni Association and/or Athletic Department, but will follow the season closely. This preview of the 05 season indicates that another great season could be in the offing.

And how do things look for Rutgers ? Well, last year they beat Michigan State one week and lost to New Hampshire the next. It looks like the Scarlet Knights can expect more of the same inconsistency this year.
