Well, it looks like President Bush has picked his nominee to replace Sandra Day O’Connor but for some reason he’s waiting till 9pm tonight to announce it. Other than avoiding the evening news cycle, I don’t understand the logic of waiting.
Update: Orin Kerr at The Volokh Conspiracy has this humorous take on this development. Whoever this nominee is, I feel very, very sorry for them right now — the scrutiny and name-calling they are about to undergo is more than any person deserves.
Update # 2: Well, it appears that the nominee will either be Edith Clement or Edith Jones, both judges on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Personally, I vote for Edith Bunker.
