I think its time to abandon the shuttle program and completely rethink the American space program. President Bush has proposed a decade-long objective of establishing a base on the Moon, followed by a manned mission to Mars. Sounds a heck of a lot better to me than orbiting the Earth in a space plane based on 1970s technology.
