Below The Beltway

I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Reminders

by @ 9:51 pm on August 13, 2005.

Returned earlier than expected today from our neighbor’s wedding. Things were a bit more low-key than Kellie and I expected given some of the pre-wedding talk but it was a nice afternoon and a nice wedding. Its also the first wedding I’ve attended since our own in February so it brought back a lot of nice memories.

One of the things that stands out from today are the words of the minister that presided over the ceremony. He reminded the couple getting married of what marriage really means and of the importance of putting your spouse ahead of everything else. In a world where too many people seem to treat marriage as just another contract that’s as easy to get out of as an apartment lease, it was good to hear someone saying those things.

Today also brought back memories of our own wedding day only six months ago. There was a lot that happened between our engagement and wedding and the entire time period seems like a whirlwind right now, but February 5th will be a day I’ll remember forever.
