I haven’t had a whole lot to say about baseball this season. Part of that, of course, has to do with the rather dismal performance that we’ve seen from the Yankees this season, but I’ve also been busy with other things this summer and haven’t really sat down and watched a game from beginning to end.

Now that Labor Day is approaching and the final stretch of the season is upon us, though, its time to start paying attention again. And what I time to do so. The Yankees a game and a half behind the Red Sox in the AL East and tied with the A’s for the AL Wild Card.

September will be the determining factor for the season, as usual, though, because the Yankees will be playing the A’s three times and the Red Sox six times before the end of the season. If the pitching staff can stay healthy, a big if, they might actually be able to make something of this disappointing season.
