Katrina And God

by @ 5:59 pm on August 29, 2005.

Its going to happen, I’m sure of it, if it hasn’t happened already. Someone somewhere is going to say that Hurricane Katrina was a “punishment from God.” It happened after 9/11 and it happened after the Asian tsumani. It also happens to be a total crock.

As Stephen Green said

We’re simply decent people who understand that an Act of God really is just some random, unavoidable tragedy. We lend it no special significance, and we’ll help clean up no matter who God smites.

Well said. Unlike Steve, I am not an atheist, but I don’t believe in a God that goes around smiting people either, which is why I tend to rely on Pope Benedict for religious teaching far more than I ever would men like Imam Robertson.

Update 9/2/05: Well, that didn’t take long.

Update 9/3/05: And the comments noted above aren’t an anamoly either.

Update 9/4/05: Even more evidence of the moonbats among us.
