Baseball Blogging: All Tied Up

by @ 6:40 am on September 28, 2005.

It couldn’t get any closer than this. Thanks to Yankee loss to the Orioles and the Red Sox splitting a doubleheader with Toronto, the AL East is all tied up again. The wildcard race is even tighter, the Indians were unable to capitalize on a White Sox loss, meaning that the AL wildcard is now in a three-way tie between the Yankees, Indians, and Red Sox. Clearly, none of these races will be decided until Sunday.

In the meantime, the Atlanta Braves clinched their 14th consecutive division title and the Angels clinched the AL West for the 2nd straight year.

Other than the AL East, AL Central and AL Wildcard, the only races that remain undecided, are the NL wildcard race, where the Astros hold a two game lead and the AL West, where the San Diego Padres will likely become the first division champ in baseball history with a losing record.
