I am aware that blogging has been pretty sparse this week, but there are reasons for it. There’s been alot going on in my world and pretty much all of it has been distracting me from the blog. It also doesn’t help that there hasn’t been alot in the news worthy of writing about this week — aside, of course, from the continued march of the New York Yankees to yet another AL East title.
Where to start ? Well, the beginning usually works.
On Monday, I quit my job. Actually, I gave my two weeks notice. The previous Friday, I had been offered, and accepted, a position at another law firm. I had been looking for several months and was pretty excited about the position that I was ultimately offered after the first on September 19th. For alot of reasons, it was time to leave the place where I am now. For one thing, seven years is a long time to be in one place in this neck of the woods. For another, well, it was just time to leave and that was all I’m going to say.
The act of giving notice was pretty stressful, more than I thought it was going to be. What’s more, for the first few days of the week the transition was looking like it wasn’t going to be entirely pleasant. Things have calmed down, though, and all is well. Or at least as well as it can be under the circumstances. My last day here is October 10th and my first day at the new firm is October 17th. Yea !
At home, I’ve been dealing with a cold which I apparently passed on to Kellie, who has taken it alot worse than I did. She went to the doctor today, though, and it looks like things will be okay.
So, here we are, at the end of September and I’m about to embark on a new employment adventure. I’m looking forward to it, not the least of the reasons being because its something new.
And did I mention the new job includes a 20% pay increase ? Sweet.
Before the end, though, a reprieve, Kellie and I will be joining her family for a few days at the beginning of next week at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia. I’m really looking forward to it.
Now, its quitting time.
