I don’t live in Chicago or Houston, and I’m not really a fan of either the White Sox or the Astros, but I stayed up until the end of Game 2 of the World Series, and I’m glad I did because this is how a World Series game is supposed to end.
CHICAGO (AP) — Scott Podsednik made it two electrifying home runs for the White Sox — and two World Series wins.Podsednik’s home run off Brad Lidge in the ninth inning gave Chicago a thrilling 7-6 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday night and put the White Sox halfway home to their first World Series title in 88 years.
The reaction of the fans in Chicago doesn’t really need to be described. This followed a game in which the White Sox took the lead in the 7th Inning after a Grand Slam by Paul Konerko, only to see the Astros tie the game an inning later.
The White Sox now have a two game lead as the series heads to Houston starting on Tuesday.
Update: If this story is true, the Astros could have a rough time ahead of them.
Houston Astros pitcher Roger Clemens had a cortisone shot after Game 1 of the World Series, according to a team official, making it less likely he will pitch again in the series. Clemens was forced to leave Saturday’s game after two innings because he aggravated a hamstring injury.
With Clemens out of the rotation, the Astros are going to have a rough time ahead.
