Several months ago, the Washington Post, started putting Technorati links into their stories highlighting the blogs that have written about, linked to, or commented on various stories appearing in the newspaper or on its web site. It seems like its been of benefit to both readers of the Post and bloggers; I for one have noticed that many of my Sitemeter hits on a given day will come from the Post’s Technorati link to a story, editorial, or Op-Ed piece that I’ve written about.
Now, come two new interesting developments from the Post. The first is something called the Post Blog, which apparently is intended to be a place where Post editors can discuss changes to the Post website and related issues. The other is called Post ReMix which is meant to highlight blogs that have remade content from the Washington Post in new and interesting ways. The purpose of Remix is explained in this introductory post, which already includes some links to sites that have repackaged news stories in new and interesting ways.
Does this count as one of the examples of the old media embracing the technology and spirit of blogging ? Perhaps. At the very least, it will be interesting to watch.
