It is inevitable. I’ve been a Large Mammal in The TLLB Ecosystem for about 6 weeks now, but I can already see signs that my de-evolution is merely a matter of days, if not hours. Over the weekend, NZ Bear announced that he had “spent a large chunk of the Thanksgiving holiday revamping the Ecosystem’s algorithms and code” all of it related to his earlier decision to take steps to exclude Open Trackbacks from counting towards ecosystem ranking.
Since then, I’ve seen the number of unique inbound links reported for this site drop from close to 500 to under 300 and, though I am still technically called a Large Mammal I know its only a matter of time before I am redesignated as a Marauding Marsupial, or worse. This mass mammalian extinction has not gone unnoticed.
I’m waiting for the dust to clear to see where some of us “formerly known as large mammals” end up.
So far it appears I’m staying with my most fantastical and favorite “Adorable Little Rodent”.
Some of you have not fared as well at the present moment. Some of you are still above me…should I be envious or be happy to be in Hamsterland again…decisions, decisions…
Well, I guess there is some small reduction in the pain of it all in the fact that I am not alone.
Update 11/29/05: And the massacre continues Eric’s Grumbles has been reduced to a Maraduing Marsupial. As of this morning, I remain a Large Mammal but I know that’s going to change.
