Before reading further, check out this post about my bachelor weekend movie viewing.
Anyway, after Kellie made it home and we had returned the house to something resembling normal, we settled down to watch a movie that had been recommended, and loaned to us, by neighbors.
The movie in question was Just Like Heaven, a movie starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. The plot of the movie itself isn’t exactly original — a recently widowed Ruffalo rents an apartment in San Fransisco, only to find himself constantly confronted by a woman (Witherspoon) who insists the apartment is hers. It becomes apparent fairly quickly that there’s something supernatural going on and the two try to find out what the truth behind this mysterious woman actually is.
At the beginning, it reminded me alot of Ghost, but I still found it to be a pretty enjoyable movie. I’ll admit that a good part of the reason I like this movie is because of Witherspoon. After seeing her performance in Walk The Line
, it became pretty clear that she was something more than the not-so-dumb blonde we saw in Legally Blonde
. Even this movie, with its somewhat predictable plot, showed the charm that she’s had in other roles.
I’m not sure when this movie was actually made. I don’t remember it actually being released in theaters, which leads me to believe that it was made sometime before or after the first Legally Blonde movie and never widely released by Warner Brothers. Whatever the case, Witherspoon shows here why I think we will be hearing from her for some time to come
