Monday was the second week that Fox’s 24 went head-to-head with the new season of The Apprentice. As was the case on February 27th, once again it was really no contest.
The hyped two-hour episode of Kiefer Sutherland’s terrorist action series 24 did well for Fox on Monday night, helping them secure the number one position. On NBC, The Donald continued to sputter in his new night, and ABC’s Miracle Workers didn’t live up to its name.
In the 8 p.m. hour, 24 earned a 4.8 rating/12 share in the 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen. Things got even better in the 9 p.m. hour, as the show’s nerve gas plotline snagged a 5.9 rating/14 share. One ratings point equals approximately 1.1 million viewers.
Also at 9 p.m., an episode of The Apprentice featuring one of the teams wearing bathrobes in Times Square was flat at a 4.0 rating/9 share. The reality competition is down about 30 percent this season.

Season five of 24 premiered in January with a million more viewers than the previous season’s premiere. The show has maintained a 12 share throughout the season, even with the added competition of NBC’s broadcast of the 2006 Winter Olympics in February.
Fortunatley for The Donald, Jack Bauer doesn’t fire people. Unfortunately, Mr. Trump better be sure there aren’t any spare hacksaws lying around Trump Tower.
