Weekend Movie Reviews

by @ 11:26 pm on March 13, 2006. Filed under General

A little later than usual, its time for this weekend’s movie reviews.

First up, there’s Monster In Law, starring Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez in a movie which didn’t really seem to have a plot. Fonda plays a washed-up Barbara Walters/Oprah-type media star who emerges from a post-firing visit to a mental institution to find her only son in love with a dog walker/caterer/medical office receptionist played by Lopez. The remainder of the movie consists of Fonda’s character trying to disrupt her son’s relationship and preven a wedding and Lopez’s character slowly (how dumb can she be ?) discovering that the crazy act her mother-in-law to be is playing is, in fact, an act. In the end, they get married and live happily ever after. That’s the whole plot of the movie. Now, you can be a wiser person than I and avoid spending your hard earned dollars renting this disaster.

After that train wreck, the next movie up was March Of The Penguins. Suffice it to say that I enjoyed the penguins far more than I enjoyed either Jane Fonda or J Lo. The cinematography was fantastic, and the story that the filmakers told was nothing short of amazing. If you haven’t seen it, you should.
