Book Notes

I’m only about 100 pages or so into it, but The Years Of Rice And Salt is really capturing my attention right now. The premise of the book is quite extraordinary; the Black Death, which in reality killed about 1/3 of Europe’s population has instead killed something closer to 99% of the people in Europe. European civilization is gone forever, and the world is left to China, Islam, and India. More when I’ve finished it, which will probably take some time since its 700 pages long and not as quick a read as a Harry Turtledove novel.
