Below The Beltway

I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Another Stupid Career Move

The Dixie Chicks are entitled to their opinions about President Bush and the war, but they better not start complaining that people don’t like them again, after making statements like this:

“The entire country may disagree with me, but I don’t understand the necessity for patriotism,” [Natalie] Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. “Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country? I don’t see why people care about patriotism.”

Well, Natalie, perhaps people care about patriotism because they love the fact that they live in a country where people are free to make stupid statements like yours without feat of the secret police taking them away in the middle of the night.

More on this from Michelle Malkin.

I guess if you can’t debate the merits of the war in Iraq you can pile on the Dixie Chicks.

  3. Greg,

Natalie Mains can say whatever she wants. I don’t care. I just don’t want to hear her cry when people decide not to buy their albums or go to their concerts because of what she says. That’s their right too.

  6. Clueless:

iIsn’t there a physical limit on how stupid one person can be? Between the lot of them the Dixie Chicks can’t come up with two IQ points to rub together.
