Baby Its Wet Outside

The Washington, D.C. area has gotten an amazing amount of rain over the past three days, and it looks like its not over yet.

More heavy rains were headed to the Washington area this afternoon, bringing a serious threat of additional flash flooding, the National Weather Service warned.

“We could see very intense rain, three to five inches, with some areas getting as much as eight inches,” said forecaster Luis Rosa at the Weather Service’s Sterling office.

It really hasn’t been that bad in our neck of the woods. Though we have experienced some ponding in the backyard area that we recently converted to a stone garden and have one window that appeared to develop a slight leak yesterday evening.

Here’s a Doppler image of what’s headed our way:

I will only start worrying if I see animals lining up two-by-two.
