Firefox Use On The Rise

Firefox appears to be continuing to gain ground on Internet Exploder:

The national usage of firefox make some interesting reading, too, with FireFox making up 16% in the USA, 24% in Australia and a huge 39% in Germany.

Onestat provide visitor statistics for 50′000 websites from 100 countries, The FireFox usage statistics are based on these websites and countrie

I’ve been using Firefox almost exclusively for more than a year now and have been generally pleased. I have encounted some stability issues here and there, usually when I have many tabs open inside a Firefox session, but its hard to tell if that’s a Firefox problem or a Windows problem. I vote for Door # 2.

I will give IE 7 a try when its ready, but with Firefox 2.0 on the way as well, I don’t see myself going back.

Update:? Based on this post by Brad Warbiany and his review earlier this year of a beta release of IE 7, I may not even give Microsoft’s latest effort a try.

Being an Apple user, I have to take Safari. Amongst free browsers, there is no competition for the speed and usability. It may not have the add-ons that Firefox does, but that seems rather minor.

I have been using Firefox for over two years. Like you, I rarely encounter a problem. I will go for door two also.

  4. Don’t touch IE7. A few days after I installed it, it noticed that Outlook would no longer display emails in HTML form. It took a few days, so I couldn’t point to IE7 as the cause. But I uninstalled it last week, and immediately saw my email working properly again. Granted, that was a beta, so they’ve probably fixed it, but I still didn’t like IE7 much.

I posted a short review of IE7 here. They’ve made some definite improvements over IE6, but at best they’re now 95% of where Firefox is. And if Firefox 2.0 is on the way, I have a feeling they’ll expand their lead.
