How Do You Use Your iPod ?

by @ 12:01 pm on July 23, 2006.

Kevin Drum has a question for iPod users out there:

I have a question for all the iPod owners out there: Would you say that you mostly select specific songs (or albums or playlists) to listen to, or do you mostly set it on shuffle and let the iPod do the work

When I first got my iPod in December, it was definiately a matter of selecting specific albums and songs. Since then, though, and especially since I’ve got about 3500 songs on there now, I’ve been into setting up playlists and setting the iPod to shuffle through the playlist. Given the size and variety of my music collection at this point, I don’t think having it shuffle through all 3500 songs, which run the gamut from jazz to rock to pop to classical, would prove all that satisfying.

I enjoy having the shuffle going on. Most of the time I am not really sure what mood I am in. My typical iPod listening session (while driving) goes like this. Shuffle all songs, from front menu, and then keep hitting the foward button until I find a song I want. Every once and a while I will select a playlist.
