Thirty years ago, Betty Williams was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in connection with circulating a petition in Northern Ireland after witnessing a British soldier shoot an IRA terrorist who then lost control of his car, veered off the road, and killed three children. One can argue over whether circulating a petition is worthy of winning the Nobel Peace Prize, or even if the Nobel Peace Prize is worth anything, but, today, Betty Williams demonstrated that she’s just another moonbat:
Nobel peace laureate Betty Williams displayed a flash of her feisty Irish spirit yesterday, lashing out at US President George W.Bush during a speech to hundreds of schoolchildren.
Campaigning on the rights of young people at the Earth Dialogues forum, being held in Brisbane, Ms Williams spoke passionately about the deaths of innocent children during wartime, particularly in the Middle East, and lambasted Mr Bush.
“I have a very hard time with this word ‘non-violence’, because I don’t believe that I am non-violent,” said Ms Williams, 64.
“Right now, I would love to kill George Bush.” Her young audience at the Brisbane City Hall clapped and cheered.
One can dismiss Williams’ statements as the rantings of just another nutjob, but I join Rick Moran in being disturbed by the apparent reaction of the schoolchildren she was speaking to. Sadly, I’m sure there are those on the left here who would have been cheering right along with them.
