After a fabulous trip to the Final Four earlier this year, it looks like the George Mason Patriots will have a tougher go of things this season:
A few minutes before tip-off at sold-out Patriot Center yesterday, the George Mason basketball program celebrated its past with the raising of its Final Four banner. Two hours later, the Patriots were left to confront the challenges of the present.
Their late-game performance failed to match the pregame merriment as they fell to Wichita State, 72-66, disappointing a record crowd of 9,804.
Damn.
