Greg Schiano: Coach Of The Year

by @ 10:47 am on December 2, 2006.

Greg Schiano has been named college football’s Coach of the Year:

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Greg Schiano, the architect of Rutgers’ rise to national prominence in college football, will be named “Coach of the Year” by Home Depot Inc. next week, the school announced Friday.

“It is an honor to be recognized as The Home Depot Coach of the Year,” Schiano said in a statement. “This award is a true reflection of all the great people here at Rutgers.”

Schiano has guided the Scarlet Knights to their second 10-win season in the school’s 137-season history this year, including a thrilling, come-from-behind victory over then No. 3-ranked Louisville.

Well deserved congratulations to Coach Schiano. Hopefully, tonight’s game against the Mountaineers will go well.

Meanwhile, Brad Warbiany has his picks for the last week of college football 2006.
