It’s Official: Ohio State vs. Florida January 8th

The BCS Rankings are finally up, and the rumor from earlier today was true, Ohio State will face Florida in Glendale on January 8th:

NEW YORK (AP) — Florida beat Michigan on Sunday in the only game that mattered.

The Gators, who lobbied hard for this victory, were picked to play No. 1 Ohio State for college football’s national championship, ending any chance for the Wolverines to get the rematch they so desired and thought they deserved.

The selection was sure to set off renewed calls to scrap the Bowl Championship Series and go to a playoff.

I can see the headlines, and the calls for a playoff system, now. The final BCS Rankings of the season can be found here.

Michigan will have to settle for the Rose Bowl and a match-up with USC.

Meanwhile, the Scarlet Knights will face Kansas State in the Texas Bowl on December 8th.

And the complete bowl schedule is here.
