A Date Which Will Live In Infamy

by @ 7:55 am on December 7, 2006.

It was sixty five years ago today that America was attacked by the Empire of Japan and dragged into World War II. Back in February, Kellie and I visited Pearl Harbor on the last day of our trip to Hawaii. What follows are just a few pictures I took that day.

First, the USS Arizona Memorial, viewed from across the harbor:

The first Japanese planes arrived over the mountains to the Northwest:

The remnants of one of the gun turrets of the USS Arizona:

Oil rising to the surface of the harbor from the Arizona. Legend says that the oil will continue to rise until the lase survivor from the Arizona has died:

And a closer view of the Arizona Memorial as we left that day:

Others remembering this day: Spark It Up!, The Indepundit, Michelle Malkin, Rick Moran, Captain Ed
