I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

From Blogger To Judge

by @ 2:29 pm on January 23, 2007. Filed under Blogging, In The News

Chad Dotson, who formerly blogged at Commonwealth Conservative (link apparently no longer active) and founded the Old Dominion Blog Alliance, has been appointed to serve as a Judge for the General District Court of Wise County, Virginia. Before this, Chad was the sitting Commonwealth’s Attorney for Wise County.

As far as I know, he’s the first blogger to become a judge.

Congratulations Chad !

Update: Via Spark It Up!! comes this statement from Judge Dotson:

I am humbled by the responsibility given me today by the General Assembly. This is an opportunity and a challenge to make a difference by making decisions that shape the lives of others in my community, the community that I love. This is another area of public service, and I look forward to dedicating myself to being the best judge that I can be.

A judge should be impartial, compassionate, wise, and prepared. I will seek to live up to those ideals every single day.”

It’s unlikely that my practice will bring me to Wise County any time in the foreseeable future, but, if it does, I look forward to appearing before Judge Dotson.
