I won’t be watching the Academy Awards tonight. Generally, I find awards shows to be annoying to begin with and the Oscar’s — filled as they are with the MPAA’s self-congratulations — to be the most annoying of all. Add to that the fact that I have only seen one of the Best Picture nominees — Little Miss Sunshine — and can’t understand at all how that movie even deserves award consideration.
So, beyond hoping that Martin Scorcese finally gets the Best Director Oscar he’s been denied in the past, I really don’t care who wins tonight. Luckily, there’s plenty to watch in TiVo
