And John McCain makes a startling announcement:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Sen. John McCain said on Wednesday that he will be a candidate for president in 2008 and plans a formal announcement in April.
The Arizona Republican made the announcement during an interview on CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” which was taped for broadcast late on Wednesday.
“I am announcing that I will be a candidate for President of the United States,” McCain told Letterman.
McCain said he would make a formal announcement in April.

In other news, birds fly, fish swim.
When will Newt Gingrich or Jim Gilmore announce? Right now, the Republican field seems so weak; the only one I could get behind at the moment is Rudy Giuliani, and even he will need to make some changes before the primaries if he wants to get the support of conservatives.
