I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Rutgers Comes Up Short

It was a nice ride, but ultimiately, the Rutgers women’s basketball team came up short:

CLEVELAND, April 3 — Before the national championship game on Tuesday night, Tennessee Coach Pat Summitt talked of her search for answers. She had earned her legendary status by specializing in the art of dynasty building, but nine seasons had passed since the Lady Vols cut down the nets after a national title game. She had spent plenty of time asking herself why.

But give a legend some time, and she’ll find the answer. And for the seventh time in her illustrious career, Summitt stood on a metal ladder, scissors in one hand, a basketball net in the other, the school’s famous fight song “Rocky Top” blaring below her.

Tennessee completed its march to the national championship, beating Rutgers, 59-46, in front of 20,704 to give the Lady Vols their first national championship since 1998 and end the school’s longest title drought since the NCAA started sponsoring a national championship in 1982.

Too bad, but it was a great season.
