I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Ron Paul: A Study In Contrasts

A profile of Ron Paul in The Politico:

Listening to presidential candidate Ron Paul, it’s sometimes hard to tell that he really is a Republican.

The Texas congressman is a fierce critic of the Iraq war, believes the Bush administration is violating personal civil liberties and thinks Republicans have not controlled the rise of federal spending.

He also makes clear that none of the other GOP presidential candidates appeal to him, and that he is not likely to endorse any of them if he fails to capture the Republican nomination.

“Quite frankly, I haven’t seen anybody running for the presidency on the Republican ticket that is actually offering to stand up and stand for the principles the Republican Party has been built on,” Paul said in an interview Tuesday with Politico reporters and editors.

Well, except for Ron Paul himself that is. It’s too bad that he has almost no chance of winning the nomination.
