Why Do Call Girls Need A College Education ?

by @ 12:52 pm on May 2, 2007.

Ben Smith has unearthed the old website that Deboarh Jeane Palfrey had for Pamela Martin & Associates, and he found something interesting:

I just ran across a stored version of Martin’s old website, which includes specifications for job applicants:

The following are required for employment consideration:

1. Minimum age 23 (no maximum)
2. Weight proportionate to height
3. Two or more years of college education
4. Must hold a day job or attend school regularly
5. Must own or have access to an automobile
6. Must have a cellular or car telephone

The help-wanted page reports that “excellent income and flexible hours allow for the position to be a wonderful ‘moonlighting’ adjunct to daytime employment or needed funds to continue education. A repeat clientele of almost 75% ensures a ‘comfort level’ unprecedented in the business.”

Also: “[O]nly those hotels, neighborhoods and areas deemed respectable are visited by [Pamela Martin] personnel.”

Matthew Yglesias and James Joyner both wonder whether this isn’t a case of credentialism gone mad, but maybe it makes sense. If you’re going to run a “high class” call girl operation, you probably want to screen out women who would ordinarily become prostitutes. No drug addicts or alcoholics, minimal exposure to possible STD’s. By targeting college women who want to supplement their income, maybe Palfrey was just being a smart business woman.

Or maybe they weren’t hookers at all and the college education helped them have lively and interesting conversations with clients.

Yea, I don’t buy that one either.
