I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

John Gibson And Michelle Malkin Lie About Ron Paul

by @ 8:13 am on May 19, 2007. Filed under 2008 Election, Politics, Ron Paul

Michelle Malkin appeared on John Gibson’s The Big Story on Fox News Channel and the two of them told a bald-faced lie about Ron Paul:

John Gibson: According to a recent Rasmussen Report poll, 35 percent of Democrats think President Bush knew about the 9/11 attacks beforehand. The so-called 9/11 Truth Movement has already infected people like Rosie O’Donnell and one in three Democrats, and many other people, Americans evidently, including Congressman Ron Paul. With me now is FOX News contributor and syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin.

So, Michelle, this stuns me. It wouldn’t have stunned me had it come up in the Democratic debate, but it’s a jaw-dropper to see it in the Republican debate.

MICHELLE MALKIN, SYNDICATED COLUMNIST: It is and it doesn’t belong here. And I’m glad that this moment provided great TV for FOX News – it was a very instructive exchange – but Ron Paul really has no business being on stage as a legitimate representative of Republicans, because the 9/11 truth virus is something that infects only a very small proportion of people that would identify themselves as conservative or Republican. And as you say, John, this is far more prevalent, this strain of 9/11 truth virus, on the left, and in much of the mainstream of the Democratic Party as that Rasmussen poll showed.

Say what you will about what Ron Paul said on Tuesday night. Agree with it. Disagree with it. Debate it. But don’t misrepresent what he said. Then again, how much does the truth matter when you’re trying to score cheap rhetorical points ?

Update: This morning, Malkin purports to apologize, but just keeps throwing the muck.

Factually challenged Michelle Malkin seems to need adult supervision. There is a chronic record of inaccuracies in her reporting. Is she a journalist or simply a propagandist?

Regardless, Paul’s first response is to blame America. I’m all for constructive criticism, but the idea of this guy being our commander in chief frankly scares me. I am still undecided, but Paul is only getting my vote if he somehow gets through the primary and Hillary is his opponent.

  3. Bob Schulte says:

CR UVa really scares me. His attitude is what really wrong in America today. Too many people are so concerned with “We are always right, we are the best!” and are blinded to reality. If someone like Ron Paul speaks simple, obvious truth they just freak out.
Ron Paul’s comment is nothing more than sober common sense. The sooner American citizens pay attention to what is really going on, the sooner America will return to its natural position as a moral leader and force for good in the world.
