Roy Pearson, famous for being the man who filed a lawsuit seeking $ 65 million in damages because a dry cleaner lost his pants, is reducing the amount of damages he’s claiming…..by $ 9 million dollars:
WASHINGTON — A judge who was seeking $67 million from a dry cleaners that lost his pants has loosened the belt on his lawsuit. Now, he’s asking for only $54 million, according to a May 30 court filing in D.C. Superior Court.
Roy L. Pearson, a District of Columbia administrative law judge, first sued Custom Cleaners over a pair of pants that went missing two years ago. He was seeking about $65 million under the D.C. consumer protection act and almost $2 million in common law claims.
He is now focusing his claims on signs in the shop that have since been removed. The suit alleges that Jin Nam Chung, Soo Chung and Ki Chung committed fraud and misled consumers with signs that claimed “Satisfaction Guaranteed” and “Same Day Service.”
But Chris Manning, the Chungs’ attorney, says that can be considered fraud only if the signs misled a “reasonable” person. No reasonable person, he says, would interpret them to be an unconditional promise of satisfaction.
Pearson, who is representing himself, said in an e-mail that the focus of the case, from the start, was based on the “false, misleading and fraudulent advertisements displayed by the Chungs.”
And, of course, his favorite pair of pants.

I just hate seeing stuff like this. Seems more like extortion than anything else.
And isn’t he reducing the amount of damages by $11 million?

Yea, well, there have been conflicting reports on what the actual original claim was. Apparently, he’d added an additional $ 2 million on top of his original claim based on a violation of some D.C. consumer protection law or something.

And this is the godless garbage that’s sitting on the benches of our courts making a mockery of it each and every day. Taking bribes from attorneys to over throw cases in their favor, somoene really should fire up the Magnum Force to eliminate these bastards, they’re the slime of the earth. Twelve problems in 1200 days, how many lives have you screwed up in 1200 days you sorry old son of a bitch? I didn’t use to think and act like this until I became a victim of the system, never been in trouble, never been in jail, I think I had a “california stop” to my credit, you know where you don’t come to a complete stop and that was in a little hick town where speed traps and cops on the take still run rampant. But anyway, for me to come to Tucson Arizona to help care for my aging parents, I was not willing to put up with these new sound systems that the kids are allowed to have and run up and down our streets 24/7 with that booming, pounding, throbbing bass the just disrupts life in the most horrible fashion. Once I complained about response time and a refusal to address the problem when the sorry ass deputies even came out, I became their target, and not the criminal. Oh we do have a couple of Judges that you can count on and we even have a few deputies that deal with me according to the situation and not based on their anger towards me, but just a few doesn’t cut it.
You go to internal affairs about misttreatment and they just bascially laugh at you. You can’t get your county supervisor to even return a call. You can’t get the county manager to answer you or return a call, you’re just helpless and on your on in this Godless system in Pima County Arizona.
Let me stop about here before I bust a blood vessel. It just kills me to go over and visit my parents like yesterday, 86 and 87 and still caring for a 59 year old retarded sister. The live right across from a car wash and talk about bad music but my dad said it’s been going on up until 1 and 2 a.m. recently. I personally helped get an ordinance passed in 1999 and 99% of the deputies have no idea that it even exist even though I’ve kicked and screamed, cussed and fussed, begged and pleaded for the to just roll their window down then they pass, pull in and stop the noise but the sorry ass bastard WILL NOT DO IT. Oh they’re going to take my tax dollar, no steal it because it is theft when you claim to give someone protection and service for a given amount of money and then they refuse to do it.
