I’m sure that many bloggers on the right will make much out of the fact that Al Gore’s son was arrested on an apparent reckless driving charge:
The 24-year-old son of former Vice President Al Gore was arrested for drug possession on Wednesday after he was stopped for speeding in his hybrid Toyota Prius, a sheriff’s official said.
Al Gore III — whose father is a leading advocate of policies to fight global warming — was driving his environmentally friendly car at about 100 miles per hour on a freeway south of Los Angeles when he was pulled over by an Orange County sheriff’s deputy at about 2:15 a.m.
The deputy smelled marijuana and searched the car, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino. The search turned up a small amount of marijuana, along with prescription drugs including Valium, Xanax, Vicodin, Adderall and Soma. There were no prescriptions found, he said.
Well, at least I guess Dad is happy that Al the Third wasn’t driving a Hummer when he was arrested.
Beyond that, though, I don’t think this should be an issue at all. Albert Gore III is an adult who is fully capable of making his own decisions. He will have to face the consequences of his actions on his own. What he may or may not have done isn’t relevant in a political context anymore than what the Bush Twins may or may not have done is relevant to the Bush Presidency.
Quite frankly, it’s time to stop. It’s time to stop making the spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister, or whatever it might be, an issue in any campaign.

Family should be off limits. Reporting it is ok. Using it for political gain is tasteless.
It does sound like this guy has a problem. I hope he gets the help he needs.

Anytime a person, any person has trouble in thier life it should not become someone’s something to enjoy. I truly do not like Mr. Gore. I think he is a person with money and power that does not understand or does not care about how our nation is simply being destroyed. I am a proud Republican, a retired U.S. Marine, and patriot. I take no pleasure in another families troubles. Those that do should be ashmed of themselves. The real debate should be about why our national leaders, on both sides of the isle, cannot figure out we do not need new laws. We need people with the guts to enforce the ones we have. Lock up the illegals, lock up those that support and harbor them. Destroy terrorist and those that support them. To hell with countries that will not stand up, they do not get a say. They will not shed even one tear for the families of the thousands that ARE GOING TO DIE in our country when those that are ploting against us attack again, and they will. Let the muslims kill each other and bring our troops home. If we are going to send them somewere, send them into Mexico. They are the ones invading our cities and towns. What the hell has Mexico ever done for the United States anyway.

I don’t agree that the right will be saying much more than the left would about Al Gore III. I do think that if this happened to a ANY republican’s kid, it would be all over the news to the point of overkill. I’m was pretty surprised the news reported it at all since the main news stations slant to the left. It’s obvious this young man is an addict and his parents should throw him into Promises, Passages or Betty Ford. This was his 2nd drug arrest and he has many speeding incidents. When he was 16 he was in a near fatal car accident from, yes, speeding. Hope he gets the help he needs.

Pardon. Something about a “Purgery” charge. So it’s just fine & dandy that “Slick Willy” Clinton went to trial and was CONVICTED OF PURGERY, not to mention his “Activities” in the Oval Office. The Dems are Up in Arms about GW’s 1 “ONE” pardon before leaving office. Gosh, one whole pardon. How quickly it’s forgotten, the “149″ (that’s one hundred and fourtynine) pardons for a number of undesirables that were granted just DAYS even Hours before Willy left Office. The President of the United States of America. Quite an impressive office to hold. Only ONE person out of what’s now 300,000,000 people in the USA is elected to that office. When the majority of the voters decide who the next one will be, that’s an Honor of the Highest. None higher. That Office should ONLY be held by someone with the UTMOST RESPECT for the office, and for the people who put them there. Someone who WILL NOT, at ANY COST, allow that office or this Country to be turned into a “SIDESHOW”. Someone that Stands up for the CONSTITUTION, and THE BILL of RIGHTS and never wavers.

I’m sorry, but this is somewhat relevant. Back during Clinton’s first term, the Gores, especially Tipper, were hitting the pavement, pushing for all kinds of family values legislation, “for the children”. Gore was a senator for a long time, and I’m sure hepled to propogate this war on drugs we’re currently suffering under. If you’re a player in the game to limit freedoms because of drugs, and limit freedoms so children don’t hear bad words, expect a lot of schafenfreude when your OFFSPRING is caught with DRUGS.
