I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

A Barack Obama Triple Play

by @ 10:32 pm on July 17, 2007.

First, it looks like Barack Obama has found the real Obamagirl:

CHICAGO (AP) - Forget the girl of YouTube videos. The real Obama girl is doing her part for the candidate. Talk show host Oprah Winfrey plans to hold a Sept. 8 fundraiser for Democratic hopeful Barack Obama at her palatial estate near Santa Barbara, Calif., according to campaign spokesman Dan Pfeiffer.

Slightly less impact is found in Senator Obama’s most recent endorsement:

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty yesterday endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for the Democratic presidential nomination, and he said Obama was the only candidate who had sought his support.

Fenty (D) expressed hearty support for Obama during a midday news conference at a recreation center in Southwest, calling Obama the best candidate and announcing that he would serve as his D.C. chairman.

Not surprising. And if there’s one primary Obama would definitely win, it’s the D.C. primary.

Finally, the junior Senator reveals his criteria for selecting Supreme Court Justices:

“The empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that’s the criteria by which I’m going to be selecting my judges.”

Empathy, yes. Understanding of the law, apparently, is secondary.
