From the Chicago Tribune:
In the show’s second season, a government based in Cheyenne, Wyo., makes its presence felt in Jericho, which, as the first season came to a close, had been at war with the neighboring town of New Bern. Green and Hawkins will go on a mission to “save the world,” in Barbee’s words, and Green will also become suspicious of the Cheyenne contingent.
“Gray Anderson [Michael Gaston] steps up as the mayor [of Jericho] and is helping to coordinate with the Cheyenne government to get [Jericho] up and running again,” Barbee explained in an interview after the press panel. “Jake … is very wary of who they are and he ends up leading the Jericho residents in a different direction at one point.”
Even though Cheyenne helps get Jericho back on the grid – to the extent that communications, the Internet and electricity start to work again – it’s not entirely clear if their intentions are good or bad. For one thing, the Cheyenne contingent tries to tightly control the communication in and out of Jericho at first.
“The Cheyenne government is strong and that’s their argument for their legitimacy – that the people who have reformed [a competing government] in Columbus, Ohio, are from the old guard and they are not strong – look at what happened” to the country on their watch, Barbee explained.
(…)
If the seven episodes that are being shot in the Los Angeles area do well, Barbee said she and her writers have far more “Jericho” stories to tell.
Here’s hoping they get a chance to tell them.
