Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney had this to say when asked why none of his five sons had decided to enlist in the military and go to Iraq:
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Wednesday defended his five sons’ decision not to enlist in the military, saying they’re showing their support for the country by “helping me get elected.”
(…)
“One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I’d be a great president.”
Romney’s five sons range in age from 37 to 26 and have worked as real estate developers, sports marketers and advertising executives. They are now actively campaigning for their father and have a “Five Brothers” blog on Romney’s campaign Web site.
Romney noted that his middle son, 36-year-old Josh, was completing a recreational vehicle tour of all 99 Iowa counties on Wednesday and said, “I respect that and respect all those and the way they serve this great country.”
One one level, I feel sorry for Mitt Romney’s sons. They have made their own choices in life, and they are under no obligation to enlist the military and put their lives on the line just because their father is running for President. For either the questioner, or Romney, to inject them into this debate is pretty tacky.
On another level, this just confirms my previous conclusions that Romney is an idiot.

Wow Wildbillfromnyc,
You seem to be wrong in a great many areas. Where do you think the nation of ours would be if there were no businesses or candidates running for president? All of us contribute to the economy of the United States by being employed and spending money! I am willing to bet that the Romney boys are earning a paycheck from the campaign and then spending it in America, at this particular moment in Iowa.
“Tax cuts for the rich!” Where do you get off with saying that? Romney has identified the issue and has made comments supporting the elimination of several taxes for investments and savings for the medium range income makers in America.
“Romney believes in the ruling class!” This is a bunch of non-sense. What he believes in is raising the standard of living for all classes of people in America.
Tell me, where did you get the Bill of Fights? Is this the part of the Constitution your Fore Fathers came up with?
In terms of Mormonism! You are speaking about a subject you know very little about. What is so terrible about Joseph Smith and Celestial Marriage? Joseph Smith translated ancient writings into English by the aid of heaven. Celestial marriage is when a man and a woman become one in purpose to bring forth children and raise them to follow Christ. Are you sure this is the “Darkside” of Mormonism? If there is a dark side, what is the bright side?
It is obvious to me that you are not watching the polls. Mitt Romney is way out in front in Iowa, New Hampshire, and in many other states including Utah. This would suggest that you have not done any research on this candidate.
