The Sad, Pathetic History Of The Yankees And Their Managers

by @ 10:10 pm on October 30, 2007.

Sports Illustrated takes a pictorial walk through the Steinbrenner-era history of what you would think would be the most coveted position in baseball.

And ends with this warning for Joe Girardi:

The former NL Manager of the Year with the Florida Marlins takes over a franchise in flux, with superstar Alex Rodriguez opting out of his contract and likely not returning for next season. Girardi beat out former Yankees great Don Mattingly for the job. The question is, with eldest son Hank Steinbrenner looking like a chip off the old block, how long can Girardi last?

Frankly, if the Yankees have the same manager a year from now that they have today, I’ll be surprised.
