The Commission on Presidential Debates has (already) released the schedule for next year’s Presidential Debates:
Yes, there are more debates in your future. The Commission on Presidential Debates has announced the debate dates and sites for next year’s general election:
* First presidential debate: Friday, Sept. 26, University of Mississippi, Oxford, Miss.
* Vice presidential debate: Thursday, Oct. 2, Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.
* Second presidential debate: Tuesday, Oct. 7, Belmont University, Nashville.
* Third presidential debate: Wednesday, Oct. 15, Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y.
All debates will be 90 minutes long and start at 9 p.m., Eastern time. There will be a single moderator for each. They are to be chosen next summer.
The first presidential debate will focus on domestic policy. The second will be a town meeting format and will include any issue raised by members of the audience and will also include questions coming via the Internet. The third will be devoted to foreign policy.
I still don’t understand the purpose of the Vice-Presidential Debate given the fact that the Vice-President has no Constitutional authority whatsoever beyond presiding over the Senate. And the town meeting debate — a bad idea that’s been following us around since 1992 — is usually a recipe for death.
Which is why several adult beverages are a necessary accompaniment to events such as these.

Agreed on every point! What ever happened to that long-haired, hippie dude from the ‘92 debate that said, “We are your children, how will you take care of us?” Did he wind up getting an appointment in the Clinton Admin.?
