Rutgers Headed To International Bowl

by @ 8:01 am on December 3, 2007.

Despite a slightly disappointing season, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are headed to their third consecutive bowl appearance:

The Rutgers University football team will face Ball State in the International Bowl next month.

The Mid-American Conference team accepted an invitation from the game on Saturday, celebrating its first postseason bowl appearance in 11 years.

The Cardinals will face Rutgers Jan. 5, noon, at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Based in Muncie, Ind., Ball State (7-5) captured a share of the MAC West Division championship this season.

Rutgers’ third consecutive bowl appearance will feature a Ball State team that beat both of its common opponents, nipping Navy 34-31 in overtime and routing Buffalo 41-14. And while the Cardinals lost to Nebraska, Illinois and Indiana, each game was competitive. Overall, Ball State’s non-conference slate featured games against six teams that were bowl-eligible this fall.

A bit strange to be playing a bowl game in Canada, I admit, but nonethless Go Rutgers !
