End Of The Road For Journeyman

by @ 2:43 pm on December 12, 2007.

It looks like NBC’s time-travel drama Journeyman has fallen victim to the writer’s strike and disappointing ratings:

The journey is coming to an end for NBC’s freshman series “Journeyman.”

NBC had until Tuesday to give a full-season pickup to the time-travel drama starring Kevin McKidd. The network let that option lapse, practically canceling the series, which posted its lowest adults 18-49 rating (1.7 rating/8 share) on Monday without a “Heroes” lead-in. The network already tried out fellow rookie “Life” in “Journeyman”’s Monday 10 p.m. slot last week.

Despite the Hollywood writers strike, “Journeyman” was able to complete its 13-episode order.

(…)

Since the production of most scripted series has been suspended because of the strike, such orders are considered a vote of confidence to the shows and a potential renewal for next season if the additional episodes can’t be produced by the end of this season.

Entertainment Tonight seems to confirm the report:

Sources tell me tonight that Journeyman has been closed down. No word yet on whether the series’ final two episodes will air as scheduled next Monday and Wednesday on NBC, but we can all keep our fingers crossed.

There is an effort to save the show by sending boxes of Rice-A-Roni (the San Francisco Treat after all) to NBC, but the longer this strike goes on, the less likely it is that shows like Journeyman will be back when it’s over.

I hope NBC executives rot in the fiery pits of hell for canceling this show. I hope their children are stolen in the night and castrated with a spork in an aquarium of leeches, and then salt is poured on their wounds. Without my weekly fix of Kevin McKidd, I won’t smile anymore.
