Huckabee Not Playing Well In New Hampshire

by @ 12:34 pm on December 13, 2007.

Mike Huckabee may be surging in Iowa and in the national polls, but he’s not doing so well in New Hampshire:

Huck-a-mania has not made its way to New Hampshire.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of the state shows former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney with 33% support and a fifteen point lead. That’s the third straight Rasmussen poll to show Romney leading by at least fifteen points in the Granite State.

The new primary election poll shows Arizona Senator John McCain in second place at 18% followed by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at 15% and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee at 14%.

Fred Thompson, at 2%, has fallen so low that he now trails both Ron Paul (8%) and Tom Tancredo (3%). Duncan Hunter earns the vote from 1% and 7% are not sure. In September, Thompson earned 19% of the vote in New Hampshire

What this means, if it continues, is that the first two primaries will be split between Huckabee and Romney and South Carolina, where Huckabee has also picked up support lately, will be when the pre Super Tuesday battle begins. This is more of a problem for Romney than Huckabee because Romney hasn’t polled well in the Super Tuesday states while Huckabee is likely to pick up support in the southern and western states that predominate the mega-primary that will take place on that day.

There is one other possibility, of course; Huckabee’s performance in Iowa could translate into increased support in New Hampshire to the point where, even if Romney comes in first, Huckabee would be considered the “winner” because he did better than expected. At that point, his momentum would be so strong that the only person who could stop him would be Rudy Giuliani.

I can’t believe what I am hearing from Huckabee supporters. Cute Christmas cards are supposed to prevent the coming recession?

SCARY THOUGHT FOR THE DAY #26:
Huckabee and Guiliani have nothing for the economy compared with Romney’s business and economic acumen. Will you still be complaining about Romney’s faith when they lay you off and foreclose your home? Get real, and don’t get me started about Huckabee as a foreign policy disaster. Huckabee and Ahmadinejad sitting across at a table???? That’s classic, what a nightmare.

Take all of the t-shirts mocking Bush you see at the mall and insert Huckabee’s face. That’s what college kids may be wearing until 2012. Bush haters are going to FEAST on Huckabee, what a goober…there’s a good image for the Republican stigma. Are you kidding me??

Why don’t we all vote for an inferior candidate merely because he’s not LDS. Evangelicals are going to ruin this nation.
