Yankees & A-Rod Finalize Multi-Million Dollar Contract

by @ 12:25 pm on December 13, 2007.

It’s official, Alex Rodriguez is a Yankee again, and is likely to remain one for the next ten years:

NEW YORK — The New York Yankees formally announced the signing of Alex Rodriguez to a 10-year contract on Thursday.

No dollar figures were included in a press release announcing the agreement. However, it was widely reported in November that the deal would be for $275 million, with another $30 million should A-Rod approach the all-time home run record.

“I’m very excited about the future,” Rodriguez said when news of the agreement became public last month. “All I can tell you is that the discussions went really well with my wife and the Steinbrenner family. … When you mix championships and all-time records, the potential of it is exciting for my family and for me.”

Welcome back A-Rod, I look forward to seeing stuff like this again.

Update: And while he is happy to be back in pinstripes, Alex Rodriquez clearly isn’t happy with Scott Boras:

Alex Rodriguez didn’t mince words on his conference call today, saying that Scott Boras misled him into opting out of his contract.

(…)

Rodriguez said that he didn’t fire Boras because this will be his last contract. But he claimed only to have spoken to him once since and that the agent was not involved in negotiating his return to the Yankees.

Emphasis mine. A-Rod is in the Bronx to stay.
