John McCain: The New Republican Frontrunner

by @ 11:59 am on January 13, 2008.

According to a new Rasmussen poll, John McCain now leads the Republican field in national polling:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows Mike Huckabee is the only candidate within ten points nationally of John McCain in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. It’s McCain 24%, Mike Huckabee 19%, Mitt Romney 14%, Fred Thompson 12%, and Rudy Giuliani at 10%. Ron Paul attracts 2% support

Given what we’ve been seeing since the beginning of the year, this is not entirely surprising. What is surprising is the extent to which Rudy Giuliani has fallen. What’s also interesting is that Ron Paul seems to have fallen in the polls, perhaps the newsletter story is having an impact after all.
