Among all of the states having primaries on Super Tuesday, it was thought that the New York tri-state area would be safe for Rudy Giuliani. After all, he had a successful two terms as Mayor and the people of New York, Connecticut, and especially New Jersey, had a front row seat for the event that put him on the national map — the September 11th attack.
Well, it looks like nothing’s safe anymore, because Giuliani’s once formidable lead in New Jersey is no more:
In an election season filled with surprises, New Jersey’s Republican Primary voters may be considering a surprise of their own. The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of that February 5 contest shows Arizona Senator John McCain two points ahead of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The survey was conducted on Tuesday night and interviews were completed before results of the Michigan Primary were released.
It’s McCain 29%, Giuliani 27% and no one else is close. Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are tied for a distant third at 10%, Fred Thompson attracts only 6%, and Ron Paul earns 5% of the New Jersey vote. Five percent (5%) say they’ll vote for some other candidate and 8% are not sure.
As with everything else this year, the race in the Garden State is highly fluid:
While McCain is barely atop the poll, just 47% of his supporters are “certain” they will end up voting for him. Just 50% of Giuliani’s supporters are that “certain.” For Romney, that number is 43% and just 33% of Huckabee fans are sure they won’t change their mind.
Looked at from the opposite end of the spectrum, 33% of Huckabee supporters say there’s a good chance they will change their mind, a view shared by 24% of Romney voters. Of those who currently support McCain, 14% say there’s a good chance they could change their mind and 11% of Giuliani voters say the same.
Giuliani could still come back in state’s like this with a solid win in Florida, but he’s gotten to the point where Florida is a must win state for him and, right now, he’s not winning.

John McCain’s two sons serve this country. As a pilot, McCain’s proudly served. He undeniable loves the United States. He respects the rule of law and understands the complexities and dangers facing our world. I, for one, will sleep a lot better at night knowing that President John McCain’s steady hand is at the helm.
Let’s give him a chance. He’s earned it.

If you elect McCain then you can just kiss
the sovereignty of this country good bye . McCain
was elected in Florida by open borders Hispanics
& people who are really Independents. He does
not have some kind of ” mandate” That is just
liberal propaganda put out by the media.
Lets consider California where I live - gangs,
drugs, drug smuggling, prostitution, widespread
bad attitudes, no respect for America all because
of illegal immigration. Its not my city ( San
Diego ) or State anymore. Hispanics have elected
one of the most radical left wing legislatures
in the history of the Nation. They are not
assimilating . They are taking over with a left
wing brand quite racists brand of politics .
Just listen to Spanish radio . Bad attitudes &
machismo everywhere
New Jersy - help us . Vote for Romney. The
man who will protect & perserve us. If we don’t
get our borders under control - we will lose our
country or at least a good part of it .
