I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

The Republican Field Narrows In VA-11

It looks like Keith Fimian will be the only Republican running in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District:

Steve Hunt, the former Fairfax County School Board member, has decided to withdraw his name from consideration for the Republican nomination in the 11th Congressional District in Northern Virginia.

That leaves Keith Fimian, a successful Oakton business owner favored by U.S. Rep. Thomas M. Davis III (R-Va.), who will retire from the 11th at the end of this term.

Hunt’s withdrawal is good for Fimian, who can focus on raising money for the general election, which is likely to be tough. Although held by a Republican now, the 11th District has leaned increasingly Democratic in recent elections. Four candidates are vying for the Democratic nomination: former congresswoman and state senator physical therapist Lori P. Alexander and Leslie L. Byrne, Fairfax Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E. Connolly and neighborhood activist Douglas J. Denneny.

I’ll admit that I don’t really know much about Fimian. I hope the Virginia GOP knows what it’s doing.
