I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

Potomac Primary Prediction Thread

This job is getting a lot easier now that the Democratic race is down to two people and the Republican race is essentially over. Nonetheless, here we go.

Republicans

Over the weekend, some may have gotten the impression that Mike Huckabee was riding the wave of a stop McCain movement, but that wave will crash on the shores of the Eastern Atlantic.

John McCain will win Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, and he will win all of them by substantial margins. He will win all of the delegates up for grabs in Virginia and the District and he’ll win most, if not all, of Maryland’s delegates as well.

Ron Paul continue to garner about 5% of the vote even though he has basically stopped actively campaigning for President.

And then, finally, Republicans will realize what they should have realized after Super Tuesday. The race is over. John McCain will be the nominee.

Democrats

The Barack Obama wave will continue on Tuesday. He’ll win substantial victories in Maryland and D.C. and he will win Virginia, though his margin of victory may be smaller than recent polls have shown.

The Democratic Delegate race will continue to be tight, but with Obama continuing to rack up victories, it’s hard to see how the superdelegates will be able to go against the will of their party.

    Hey Doug,

The states have primaries so people can let their voice be heard for their candidate. I think it’s great Huckabee is going the distance. The republican party will be richer for it. When the GOP continue to get the wake up calls they’ve been getting (MH victories) maybe they’ll finally NOT hit snooze and get out of bed. Mike Huckabee is alive and kicking. McCain reminds me of the Rep version of John Kerry. MH as gone from 0 to 60 like a mazzerati and on fumes to boot. If he had had the name recognition of JM and the money, MH would easily be the front runner now. Look at how rapidly he’s gained on JM in the last 72 hours. If the GOp is going to win in November they need ideas and a winsome candidate who understands where people are at. Someone who has the character not to bicker with an opponent on national TV. Someone who has actually run a mini version of the Fed. Gov. Barack or Hillary will be a challenge to beat. But even if the GOP pulls it off the real challenge is to move America forward at home and in the world. JM seems like same old same old, MH is the GOP choice for a new America.

  3. The comparison of Mike Huckabee to a Maserati is quite apt. Most people don’t know what one is, and few choose to buy them. I could never consider voting for a candidate with such whacky and antiquated religious views.
