I believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in, and the personal freedom that America used to believe in.

A-Rod: Jeter Will Be A.L. MVP

Last year’s winner of the American League’s MVP award predicts that his teammate will win it this season:

Alex Rodriguez of the Yankees has won the American League’s Most Valuable Player award three times, including last season, and teammate Derek Jeter has never won it. But Rodriguez predicted on Thursday that Jeter would have an M.V.P. season in 2008. Rodriguez based this on a conversation he had at lunch with Jeter on Thursday about Jeter’s conditioning during the off-season.

Speaking for himself, Jeter says he’d rather win another award:

“I don’t even think about it. I have to be honest with you guys, man. I’d much rather win. That’s the bottom line. I’ve said time and time again, you play to win,” he said. “You always want to do well because the better you do, the better the team will be. But the bottom line from day one is whatever we can do to win.”

In other words, another World Series ring.
