Today In History — Iwo Jima Flag Raising

It was 63 years ago today that the most memorable photograph of the Second World War was taken.

On January 29th, Raymond Jacobs, the last surviving member of the group of men who raised the flag on Mount Surabachi, died at the age of 82.
